Everyone has a special place in your mind where you are at peace, a land dedicated to you and you only. Everyone's special place is different, but what if, by some miracle, it became a reality?
CHAPTER 1
"Yetroy, if you go into that kord, no one knows if you'll be able to get back out." Warns one of Yetroy's partners. "Who knows what you'll find! you might get hurt!" warns another one of Yetroy's partners. "Both of you, keep quiet. I have a confession to make, I am not a professional blacksmith, all the swords and weaponry I make do not come from me. I find them in these kords, I know exactly what is in there and I know exactly how to get out. There are monstrosities in there that you couldn't even imagine, the things in there are so vile and haunting that the only way to fight back the fear is to stay in there. I need to go in. Don't try to stop me." Yetroy spoke as he walked into the kord, with a combination of a sword and an axe in his right hand. He hesitated for a few seconds, then walked into the kord. Yetroy's partners just stood there, looking into the kord, wondering if they should do the same. They waited a few minutes, just staring into it, then gave up and went back to their desks. They began working on their computers, doing the work Yetroy told them to do when they signed up for the job. The room is huge, and like most buildings it is in a cubic form. It is dim, with only two or three lights still functioning on the ceiling. Cobwebs form at every corner, yet they still work at their computer monitors. Only two desks lie in the middle of the big room, with lots of empty space surrounding it. Although, on the west wall, there is a big open area. Not an open area like another room, but more like a rip through the wall. Through this rip you can see space, all the colorful stars and planets, and lots of other galactic debris. The two desk workers and their boss, Yetroy, all call this rip, the kord.
This is the story of two broke friends, who were in need of a job. They went to every little house they could find for days, until they stumbled onto the man who hired them to paint his fence. They agreed to the job, expecting a normal outside fence that separates property lines like all the other houses. Instead the man invited the two into his house, and told them that he has a fence inside he wants to be painted. They were led into a very small and cramped room, with only a single picket of a fence. The man says to the two broke men to paint the fence. He then says reassuringly, "Don't worry. You'll get used to the size of the room." They then were handed a red paint can and a paint brush. The man then closes the door and the room goes pitch black. One of the broke men whispers to the other, "It was a mistake to take this job, we might die here!" The other one reaches into his pocket and brings out a match. He strikes it across the ground hoping to light it. It fails to light. He tries again, and again it doesn't even spark. He tries one final time, and a spark appears, and for a split second, both of the broke men see the man's face. The same man who hired him for the job, staring directly at them.
On the corner of one of the office worker's eyes, he sees the kord move a little. He turns around from his computer monitor and checks on the kord. It didn't move an inch. He calls to the other worker, "Djov, did you see the kord move?" Djov replies back, "No, did it?" He asks the other worker, turning around to check the kord. "It didn't move, Ferx. You're just tired after that long night yesterday." Djov explains to Ferx. "But Djov, Yetroy said he knows the way to get out of the kord. What if, whatever lives in there, also knows?" Asks Ferx. "That is a possibility, but I'm sure Yetroy would take care of it before it came. He has that super sword, Fegroid, or whatever he calls it." Djov replies back. "I guess so..." Says Ferx, uneasily. Ferx just stared at the kord, wondering what could be in there. He then fell asleep, Djov tried his hardest to wake him up, but it was too late. Ferx wasn't curious anymore.
CHAPTER 2
"What are you two doing? All I told you to do was paint my fence, not start a fire." The two men hear him say. "Oh, uh, yes mister. Sorry, we'll get right on that!" One of the painters say as the take the paint brush and dip it in water. They spread it on the fence. "This is crazy, we shouldn't be here!" One of them says to the other one who's painting the fence. He then dips the brush in paint and lathers it on the fence. A dim light then appears above them. "What's going on?" Asks the one painting. "I have no idea." Replies the other. They sit there a while, waiting for something else to happen. "Guess you should get painting again..." Suggests the other man. "Yeah..." Says the painting one as he dips the brush into the paint can, still staring into the light. He paints the fence again, and the light gets brighter, and goes higher as the room begins to get bigger. "Wow, I'm not squished anymore. Maybe this fence is causing it." Says the other one. "Suppose so..." replies the one painting. "Paint some more, see if you can make this room big enough to stand in!" They start painting faster, and soon the room becomes bright and gigantic.
As Ferx scrambled off the ground, he looked up and saw purple. That's it, he just saw purple. He looked at the flat ground, it was gray, like the dim office he was working in. He looked up again, and saw a figure in the distance. It's hard to tell if it's human, since everything's purple. He goes closer and sees two figures, one definitely not human, and one semi-human. "Hmmmf" He exclaims as he tries to yell 'hello', but it appears he's in some liquid. This purple must be some sort of liquid, he thinks. As he crawls closer to the two figures, he realizes he can swim. He swims fast towards the figures, and recognizes one of the figures. He calls out to the semi-human figure, "yemmftroymf?"
"Gentlemen, I told you you'd get used to the size of the room." Says the man who hired them as he walks down the stairs to new mansion-sized basement. "I'm quite amazed with what you did with the place, really. I am." "How did you do this?" Asks the one who painted the fence. "I really didn't do anything. You did. Here's your money, fifty bucks each, is that correct?" "Yeah!" They both shout as they grab their money. "I do have another job, if you two are interested." Says the man as the two broke men stop as they were about to exit. "What's that, then?" They say. "One, if you keep that fence a secret, I'll give you both an extra fifty dollars, two, if you would be so kind as to untangle some electrical cords from my computer for me." "Yeah right it's computer cords, it's probably some insane torcher cords you use to strangle people with, and every time we untangle it, something weird happens to the room." They both mock him. "I'll be willing to pay two hundred dollars to both of you if you choose to untangle the cords." Offers the man. The two broke men look at each other for a second, then turn around and talk about the risks. They finally decide to turn around and tell him, "Sure, as long as you give us the extra fifty bucks each to not tell anyone about this place." "Done deal." Replies the man.
CHAPTER 3
Yetroy swings his sword at the Sorc, and splits it in two with a single blow. Everything turns black, then the color returns to it's usual purple. Yetroy swims away from the Sorc with great speed and heads towards a tall and cylindrical structure floating freely in the purpleness. Yetroy hears something near and turns around to find one of his co-workers swimming nearby, trying desperately to speak. Yetroy swims toward him and with his hand, gestures him to follow. Yetroy and Ferx swim to the structure Yetroy was originally going to. Yetroy, swimming faster than Ferx, gets to the entrance first and opens the hatch. The purple liquid comes flooding in and Yetroy and Ferx come crashing in from the pressure.
Yetroy scrambles to his feat in the closed room and shuffles around, looking for a lever before the liquid floods the entire room. He finally finds it and pulls. The hatch shuts. He then pushes an orange button to the left of the lever and the liquid slowly drains out of the small room. Once the liquid gets to knee-high level, Yetroy gets to his feet leans against the wall. Ferx tries to stand up, but his legs aren't used to the abundance of gravity without the liquid to support him. "What the heck are you doing here?..." Yetroy scolds Ferx, still out of breath. "Sir, sir I didn't mean to..." Replies Ferx. "How did you get in then?" Yetroy questions him. "Someone, I mean something, pulled me in!..." Ferx exasperates from the pressure of gravity on his body. "Wait... something pulled you in?" Exclaims Yetroy surprised. "Yes..." Replies Ferx, out of breath. "Shhh..." Hushes Yetroy. "You stay here, Ferx. If whatever pulled you in got to the teleporter, it's probably still here." "I... I can't breathe!..." Exclaims Ferx. "You'll get used to the gravity... it's different here. But for now, you stay here. Don't move a muscle." Says Yetroy as he climbs a ladder to the second floor of the structure.
He pokes his head out from the hole to the first floor and sees a creature. The creature's head is as small and barbaric as a baby monkey's, his eyes as wide as an owl's, a body so scaly as a snakes, and has four limbs as slimy and sticky as an octopuses tentacles. It was a horrid creature, that Yetroy liked to call a Refkul.
Yetroy quickly stuck his head back down to the first floor and asked, "Ferx, could you hand me my sword?" Ferx, lieing on the ground as tired as if he just finished a marathon, pick up the sword to the right on him. He stuck it up a couple inches into the air, just enough for Yetroy to grab the tip. Yetroy tries his hardest to lean down and grab the sword without making too much noise for the creature to hear. He takes one hand and one foot off the ladder, too get as far as he could to the sword. Ferx whispers, "Take it..." Yetroy whispers back, "I'm reaching as far as I can, throw it up so I can take it." Ferx, using all his strength, tosses the sword into the air. As the sword flies up, Yetroy gets ready to pounce at the sword. Suddenly, the creature above moves and hits a wall. The structure begins to spin clockwise. The structure turns sideways as Yetroy is about to grab the tip of the blade, when he's suddenely pulled toward the wall by gravity. The sword comes at him with great speed. He tries to move out of the way when the sword cuts into his skin on his right leg and continues to cut deeper. The Structure then turns upside down and Yetroy hits his head on the roof of the first floor. Ferx is lifted off the ground and lands next to Yetroy. Blood is coming out of Yetroy's leg rapidly and is flying across the room. Yetroy swiftly removes the sword from his leg and tries to move down to the second floor.
He makes it into the second floor when the structure turns sideways again. Yetroy is tossed to the wall again and his back hits one of the buttons on the wall, and the hole to the first floor gets blocked by a metal plate.
The Refkul spots Yetroy and tries to crawl to him when the structure shifts right-side up. Yetroy gets up and takes control of the structure using the levers and buttons on the wall. As Yetroy struggles to get the ship stabilized, the Refkul gets up and slowly crawls over to him. Yetroy succeeds and the structure stops spinning. He turns around and the Refkul wraps one of it's tentacles around Yetroy's neck. Yetroy can't breathe. The Refkul then injects a poison into him using it's suction cups on the tentacles. Yetroy faints.
The Refkul lets go of Yetroy, and sees the hole to the first floor is blocked. It attempts to smash the floor to get out. The Refkul manages to make a small hole. The purple liquid starts spewing out from the hole and floods the room. Ferx smashes the hole and makes it bigger for him to fit through. He enters the second floor and grabs Yetroy's sword. With it, he swings at the Refkul and cuts off one of it's tentacles. It screeches from the pain and wraps it's other three tentacles around Ferx's arms. Ferx, still grasping the sword, swims hastily at the Refkul's head. The Refkul tries to stop Ferx, but he takes the sword and thrusts it down the Refkul's face. Black gas comes poring out of the Refkul's face, and it falls.
Ferx, gasping for breath, breathes in the purple liquid. He realizes he's been able to breathe it in the entire time. He takes a couple more breaths and sees a glass cylinder in the corner of the room, untouched. He opens the glass door and sees a button labeled: "Teleport". He presses the button.
"Here's my computer cords, gentlemen" Says the man as he leads the broke men into the same room they were just in, but this time not with the fence, but instead a small hole about the same size as the hole of a pencil sharpener in the wall. The man hands the broke men a very peculiar piece of equipment. It was a metal tube, about the same length and width of a pencil, with two handles made of copper at one end of the cylinder at either sides. "What the heck is this?" Asks one of the broke men. "I told you to untangle my cords, do what you think it's meant to do. He exits the large dark room and closes the door.
The room is completely dark besides the light coming from the hole in the wall. The broke men look at each other and one of them say, "Well, whatever this is, it doesn't look cheap. We better be careful with this." "I don't like this..." Says the other as he grabs the equipment. He pulls on one of the copper rods extending from the metal cylinder. Nothing happens. He tries the other one. Still nothing. "Try pulling the rods away from each other." suggests the other broke man. So he tries to pull them away, and the more he pulled, the bigger the cylinder got. He pulled them closer together, and the cylinder got smaller. "this is some weird contraption..." States one of the broke men.
Ferx Teleported back to the office where he originally was. He exited the kord, and fell to the ground by the force of the purple liquid escaping. The liquid stopped, and Ferx got up, and jumped a couple times. "Wow... it's pretty light in here!" He exclaims to himself. He looks around, and sees all his usual desks and computers, but can't find Djov.
"Djov? Where are you?" He then realizes he might have been sucked into the kord as well, and turns around to enter the kord again, when he heard a sound coming from upstairs. He turns again and slowly walks toward the stairs. He walks up the strairs and sees Djov talking on the phone, or at least trying to. "Yetroy! Yetroy, are you there?" Calls Djov on the phone. He hangs up and tries to call again. Djov must have been trying to call Yetroy for quite a while. "Djov?" Calls out Ferx. "What? Ferx, is that you?" Asks Djov as he puts down the phone. Ferx walks up the stairs and sees Djov. Djov runs to Ferx and hugs him. "Where'd you go? Where's Yetroy?" Asks Djov frantically. "I don't know where I went, but the last time I saw Yetroy he had his own sword stuck in his leg. There was weird purple liquid everywhere, it was even breathable! I swear, it was a really weird place..." "Do you think Yetroy's okay?" Asks Djov. "I hope so, I really don't know." Replies Ferx nervously.
Ferx realized he was still holding Yetroy's sword. "I'll put Yetroy's sword in the office, just in case he comes back." Says Ferx as he walks down stairs. He walked down to the dark office with only two desks in it. He remembered back when he and Djov first arrived there. He chuckled to himself. He put the sword next to the kord and walked back to the stairs. He walked back to Djov and said, "Hey Djov, remember when we first were hired here?" "Yeah..." Replies Djov. "It was so weird the first time, I don't think Yetroy could really do it without us..." "Yeah..." Replies Djov again. "I hope Yetroy will come back..." Says Djov.
CHAPTER 4
"What do we do with this thing?" Asks the broke man holding the contraption rhetorically. "Well, try to shrink it back to a smaller size. Maybe it can fit in that small hole in the wall." Suggests the other one. "We're untangling wires, not plugging up holes in the wall. Lets just do what the guy said..." Argues the one with the machine. "Well, we'll never find the wires with this amount of light. That hole is our only light source, so maybe we can expand it with that thing." The other one reasons. "How?" Asks the one with the machine. "Well, it can expand and shrink, right? So that means taht if we shrink it enough to fit it in that hole, we can then expand it to make the hole bigger!" Explains the other one. "Wow, nice thinking!" He says as he places the machine in the hole. The whole room goes pitch black. "Now pull the handles apart!" The other one yells blankly in all directions. He pulls the machine, and suddenly the room turns as bright as the sun. "It's so bright!" The other one hollers, shielding his eyes.
As their eyes adjust to the extreme brightness, they look into the hole, expecting to see the outside world. Instead, they see clouds. "What..." Whispers the one with the machine, his mouth wide open. "Are we that high up?" Asks the other. "I... I don't think so..." The one with the machine answers. "Didn't we go downstairs?" Asks the other one as he walks toward the hole. "I'm going to stick my head out the hole, and see if we really are that high." The other one says as he gets down on his stomach and sticks his head out the hole. "Oh my gosh! Oh no, help!" He starts screaming as he starts to get sucked out of the room. "Oh no, I'm coming!" The one with the machine yells back as he drops the machine and runs to the other broke man. He leaps and tries to grab his leg before it falls out the hole, but it's too late. The other man falls down the hole and into a purple lake. "What th-" Is all the other man could say before he was pulled down as well.
Yetroy awakes from his slumber. He stands up in a field full of grass. There are no hills or trees, the plains seem to go on forever. Yetroy slowly walks forward, but to Yetroy, he may as well be standing still. For every step he takes, the plains of grass just continue on. Yetroy begins to run. He begins to see a large figure in the distance. As he gets closer, he sees the figure was a zig zag pattern extending into the clouds. Beyond the clouds he sees himself, staring down upon him. "The sky seems to be replaced by a large mirror..." Yetroy thinks to himself. He is lifted from the ground, and flies toward the sky. Yetroy struggles to escape, flinging his limbs around, trying to swim away, but it is all no use.
He keeps rising, until he flies so high the clouds look like specs of white light. He looks up and sees himself, getting closer and closer to the mirror-like sky. As he gets closer, he stops flying. He falls onto the mirror floor with a great thud and stares down at himself. He lies there for a few seconds, then sees two Refkuls approach him from behind at the corner of his eye. He twists his body around and stares at the two beasts above. They pick him up with their tentacles and drag him with them. He tries to stand up and fight, but the Refkul's grip is too tight. They inject the poison into Yetroy once more, and Yetroy begins to feel weak.
Yetroy's last sight before he faints is in the mirror-ground. From the mirror he sees his partner, Ferx, going into the teleporter Yetroy had made many years before. Ferx pushes the button labeled: "Teleport". Yetroy tries to yell out "Help!", but he's too late. He's fainted again.
As the Refkuls drag Yetroy's limp body to a giant snake mouth in the distance, three other creatures come forth from the snake mouth. One has a lion's head and body with a gecko's eyes, looking in different directions. It's fur is is a brilliant green, but it's mane has the color of pure blackness. It has hundreds of centipede-like legs, all but two are red and incredibly skinny. The other two "Legs" have the arms of a human, located near the neck of the lion's head. Yetroy likes to call these creatures "Huxoles" The other two look like regular human beings, only their skin is a pure dark blue, and they're wearing all red clothes. Yetroy calls these "Hadmun" They approach Yetroy's unconscious body. The Hadmuns whisper something in a weird language to the Refkuls, and the five creatures walks to the snake's mouth. They walk into the mouth, and it slowly engulfs them as the mouth closes shut.
The two broke men are swimming in the purple lake, and bump into a large building, floating freely in the purple water. They swim towards a hatch and start banging it furiously. The hatch slowly opens and the men are pushed into the room by the force of the water. They take a couple breathes before the room becomes completely drowned. The purple water slowly drains out. The men find a ladder and climb up it to find a friendly man working at some high-tech gear. The man turns around and greets the other two men and asks,
"Where did you come from?" The two men reply, "I don't know really, one minute we were working for some lunatic willing to give us money to untangle his cords, and the next we're falling into some toxic lake!" They answer hastily. "Wait, what type of cords?" The friendly man asks suspiciously. "Uhh, I don't know... computer cords or something..." They reply stuttering. "Are you sure, because there's no possible way of you to come here... unless..." The man states mysteriously. "Unless what?" They ask. "Unless those cords weren't what cords you guys are thinking about. And the only other person who can make kords aside from me, is,"
Before the friendly man could finish what he was saying, the purple water outside turned black. The building the men are in starts to shake furiously.
"Hurry, I'll explain all this later. For now, we have to get out of here!" Alerts the friendly man. "How?" one of the broke men ask. "Get in this teleporter, I just finished it's design, and it should take us back to my office." The friendly man tells them. He shoves the two broke men into the teleporter and hits the button labeled: "Teleport". The two men dissapear.
The friendly man hears his hatch begin to get slammed down. He hurries into the teleporter and hits the button again. It fails and he remains in the teleporter. He hits it a couple more times, and it still doesn't work. He exits the teleporter and rips open the control panel on the side of the teleporter. He hastily connects a few wires and closes the panel.
He hears the hatch slam down and the purple water begin to flow into the floor below him. He hurries into the teleporter and and hits the "Teleport" button for the last time and he teleports to his office.
After some time to get over what just happened, the friendly man asks the other two men, "So... what's your names, then?" "Uhh, I'm Djov. This is my friend, Ferx. We're not really 'friends', but we're the only thing we got." "Djov and Ferx, huh? Well, I'm Yetroy. And I've got a job you can't decline, and it'll be a real one. I promise, no tricks." Yetroy guarantees the two. "Umm, ok. What is that?" The two ask. "I want you to help me make weapons. Like a blacksmith, because I am a blacksmith. That's how I have all these swords, including my favorite one I like to call Fegroid. You see that portal on the wall right there?" Yetroy asks them as he points towards the wall. "That's called a kord. I bet that when that crazy man asked you to untangle his 'cords', he was talking about these kind on kords. These kords are portals to The Nourikonm. I've spent my entire life trying to find the leader of that twisted land my entire life, and I want your help to kill him if we ever find him." Ferx and Djov just stand there, pondering whether or not they should trust him. "And, as a reward, everyday I'll pay for all your food and supplies. I'll let you live here with me, for free! What do ya say?" Yetroy tries to persuade them. They stand there for a minute, then Ferx asks, "You promise you wont try to trick us in any way?" "I promise. It gets lonely out there by myself." Yetroy states meekly. "Alright then, if you can teach us how, then we'll make you some weapons." Ferx agrees. "Great! For now, I'm going to need to be alone. I'll meet up with you tomorrow, how's that sound?" Yetroy orders them. "Where will we sleep then?" The two ask. "Oh, that's right. I think I have some beds upstairs. Go up there and find something comfortable to sleep on." He suggests. "Okay then, see you in the morning." Djov says. "See ya..." Yetroy replies.
As Ferx and Djov leave, Yetroy whispers to himself, "Dang it, it'll take weeks to repair my ship. I hope those monsters haven't destroyed my teleporter or the kord..."
CHAPTER 5
"Where the heck is Yetroy?" Ferx rhetorically asks himself. Ferx, sitting next to the kord and hugging the sword Fegroid in the dark office, ponders about the idea of going back into the kord to look for Yetroy. Djov, lieing on the beds a floor above Ferx, wonders if this job Yetroy gave them a while back was ever worth it. He would need to worry about money, food, and get a less exciting job if he quit now and looked for a real job. "Here," He said out loud, "money is no object. I am safe here, as long as Yetroy's here to protect us, of course. What if he never comes back? Then no one would be here to pay for the food, the rent, or anything! If I leave now, would I need to tell Ferx? Ferx might as well be exploring The Nourikonm by now, looking for Yetroy. I'd be surprised if he wasn't dead by now! Yeah, maybe I will run. Although, if I run now, Yetroy could come back, and if he's back, I wouldn't need to worry anymore. I'll give it two or three more days. If by then Yetroy still isn't here, I'm not either."
"Djov?" Ferx calls out. "Djov, you still up there?" He calls again. Ferx runs to the stairs. He paces up the stairs and gets to Djov's bed.
"Djov, didn't you hear me?" Ferx asks Djov sleeping on the bed. "Uh, what? Oh, sorry Ferx. I didn't expect to see you still here." Djov replies. "What do you mean?" Ferx questions him as he sits down. "I thought you'd be in the kord, looking for Yetroy by now." Djov answers. "I wouldn't do that without telling you," Ferx says honestly "but I was going to tell you now. Djov, I'm going into that kord, and I'm going to find Yetroy." "Heh, you can try. Without Yetroy, you're basically food for those demons. There's no way you'd make it out alive." Djov says as he tries to persuade Ferx out of doing it. "I've got Fegroid, I'm sure with it I can at least defend myself..." Ferx argues, persistently. "Fine, if you want to, do it. I'm not going to stop you, but be warned. If you die, I'll be saying 'I told you so' in the dead world until the end of time." Djov says pessimistically. "I'm going, Djov. If I'm not back in five days, then I'll let you make fun of me when we are both in the dead world." "Hah, I'm leaving in three, Ferx. I'm not going to wait for you. If you die, I couldn't care less. If Yetroy dies, that's a big bummer. If Yetroy isn't back before three days, I'm going to find myself a real job. I doubt it'll be hard. With you out of the picture, I'll find one twice as fast!" Djov hollers at Ferx. Djov then rolls the blankets back onto his body and goes to sleep. Ferx slowly stands up, and walks down the stairs. He grabs Fegroid, and enters the kord.
"Alright gentlemen, you ready for your first day of work?" Yetroy hollers at Djov and Ferx. "Yes we are!" Ferx says excitedly. "Alright, now the first rule of this new job of yours is: Do not enter the kord unless I instruct you to! Never do it, it is a dangerous place in there, and I don't think either of you are ready for it." Yetroy instructs them. "Now, I'm going to teach you how to be a professional blacksmith. This is a very hard and tedious job. It will hurt, sometimes. It will be hot, all the time. And it will be stressful, well, maybe. I'm not sure. Anyways, lets get to work!"
Yetroy leads the two men to a far corner of the dim office and shows them an anvil and a stove. "The iron will be upstairs, probably underneath your bed." Djov rushes upstairs to his bed and grabs all the iron he could carry. "Good, now place that here." Yetroy says, pointing at the stove. Djov places all the iron in the stove and Yetroy turns a knob on the left of the stove. It turns on, and everything becomes very bright and hot. Yetroy spends the entire day teaching them how to smelt, hammer, and craft weapons. At the end of the day, Yetroy, covered in soot, tells the two men, "Okay now, we'll call that a day. We'll make some fine weapons in the morning." As Djov and Ferx begin to walk upstairs to their beds, Djov sees Yetroy enter the kord. "What is he doing?" He whispers to himself. "What?" Ferx asks. "Nothing..." Djov replies nervously.
Ferx swims through the purple liquid with great haste. He swims in one direction, hoping to find Yetroy's structure. Ferx hears something in the distance. He looks around, but sees nothing. He continues swimming, and hears it again. He hears it more distinctly this time. It sounds almost like a laugh. Like an insane laugh. He swims faster, looking desperately for the structure. He hears it again, and he can tell that it's somewhat human. "Yemmm" Ferx starts yelling, but then realizes he still can't speak in this purple substance. He hears the sound again, and it seems closer now.
Ferx swims away from the sound as fast as he can. In the distance, he sees something big. As he gets closer, he realizes it's Yetroy's structure! He hears the sound again, and it's getting louder. Ferx swims to the structure and sees the hatch is still open. He swims faster and faster to the hatch, but seconds before he could grab it, he hears the sound again, ear burstingly loud. He grabs the hatch door and slams it shut. He searches for the drain lever. He finds it and pulls down. The purple liquid slowly drains out. Ferx wastes no time and opens the second floor hatch immediately. He's pulled down from the strong force of gravity, but he persists to climb up. He grabs the second floor's opening and pulls his body up. He gets himself up to the second floor after some time, and sees the teleporter is still intact. He sees a giant hole where the Refkul escaped from, and a new hole in the roof he hasn't noticed before. "How's the liquid not pouring in?" Ferx wonders.
Ferx climbs on the walls and reaches the hole in the roof. He grabs hold of the opening and pulls himself through. He gets up onto the roof of the structure and lies down.
Exhausted, he gets up slowly and sees that the structure has floated to the top of the purple liquid. He sees the purple ocean all around him. He looks up and sees clouds. Beyond the clouds, he sees himself. Staring down at him. "Wow, the sky seems to be some sort of mirror..." Ferx states in amazement. Ferx wonders if he should start rowing the structure and see if he can find anything beyond. He jumps back into the structure and rips off part of one of the poles in the teleporter. He slowly climbs back onto the roof of the structure and starts using the pole as a paddle to row the structure. He rows out to the seemingly endlessness of the purple ocean. He soon gets tired and lays down for a few hours. The force of the gravity is too strong, he can't row anymore. He decides to close his eyes and get some sleep.
CHAPTER 6
Yetroy awakes. He looks to his left and to his right, but can see nothing. He tries to move, but everything from his chest and down is paralyzed. He cannot feel anything below his neck. He looks around again. Darkness. He starts to panic, until a light flickers on in the distance. It may be in front of him, but it's an incredibly dim amount of light. The light starts to get brighter. Yetroy can see himself now. He has no limbs or a body.
The light gets brighter still. He tries to get away from the light by tossing his head back, but the light kept creeping closer.
The light is now becoming hard to look at, and it's becoming the size of Yetroy's head. Yetroy hears a loud thud, like the sound of a ping pong ball getting hit in slow motion. He tries to look in the other direction to block out the massive light. He turns around and sees hundreds of thousands of heads that look just like his, only their eyes are closed. Yetroy leaned to the side to get a better look, and sees that the heads are in a line, and the heads are more distorted the further down they went. Yetroy felt a blast of heat on the back of his head. He turns around and sees the light was no mere light. It was a star.
As Yetroy floated closer and closer to the massive fire ball, he started to melt. His hair started to turn to lava that ate the top of his head, until it reached his brain.
His last vision was of a little girl, whose mouth had been replaced with an eyeball, and her eye sockets were filled with millions of spider legs. Her nose was not a nose, but a blackened tongue hanging in between her spider filled eye sockets.
"Upfeez"
As Ferx slowly came back to his senses, he opens his eyes. He expected to see the mirror up in the sky, but instead he sees his boat. The purple liquid and the boat is above him, and to his astonishment, he looks down to find he's standing on the giant mirror in the sky. "How did I get here..." Ferx questions himself. He wonders if something from this strange place dragged him up.
He looks up again to make sure nothing is following him, then he sees the purple liquid turn black, then purple again. It turns black again, then purple, as if it were pulsating. The pulsing gets faster, and Ferx begins to see something rise from the purple liquid.
The pulsation gets even faster, and the thing rising becomes more clear. The pulsation gets out of control. Ferx starts to run. He doesn't know where to, but he's running.
He looks up again and sees a creature rise from the liquid, it looks strangely humanoid. Too humanoid. Ferx starts to sprint. He sees some green grass in the distance above him, beyond the purple liquid. He becomes confused. "How is there green grass in this demented world?" Ferx screams at the top of his lungs. He stops running and turns around. The humanoid creature has reached the mirror-ground and flies toward Ferx at an incredible speed. "What do you want from me?!" Ferx shrieks at the creature. The creature gets closer and closer to Ferx. It halts to a stop when it finally reaches him and says in a creepy yet hushed tone, "There is two..." It turns around hastily and repeats, "There is two..." It slowly moves away from Ferx and speaks once more, "Ferx. Come."
Djov, comfortable in his bed, hears a loud bang below him. He runs down stairs and sees the kord wobbling side to side. "Yetroy... is that you?" Djov hollers to the kord. He hears nothing. Then he hears a sound similar to fast running water going down metal pipes coming from the kord. Djov backs off a few steps. He hears it again. "Yetroy, Yetroy are you okay over there?" Djov hollers hopelessly. The kord wobbles violently again, and the sound gets louder. "Okay, I don't care if that even is you, Yetroy. I'm out of here, I'm going to go get a real job that I can get payed with real money! How do you like that?" Djov wails. Djov hears a loud sound that sounds like a person swallowing in slow motion. Djov runs back upstairs and gets all his things and Ferx's things, then rushes out the door of Yetroy's house.
Djov sprints down the sidewalk and doesn't stop until he hears an incredibly loud sound that sounds like a million alien signals playing at different tones.
"Get away from me! I don't know who you are! I'm just a poor broke man! Leave me alone!" Djov cries as he runs past many other people looking outside to see what the matter was. "Oh my lord, that house is blowing up!" Exclaims a lady coming out of her house. "No, this can't be happening!" Screams another in denial. "Everyone, get out of here! We don't know when this thing is going to blow!" Commands a young man running out of his house. "We're going to die!" Squeals a little girl.
The house begins to glow. It creates a tone that starts low, and progressively gets higher and higher. After a few seconds the tone starts to get lower. It keeps rising up and down for a couple of minutes, then a huge shock wave blasts the house in millions of bits and other houses around it. A giant Refkul emerges from the rubble, about the size of a four-story building. It screeches in rage, then begins to destroy everything in it's path.
"What... what have... I done..." Djov cries, staring at the Refkul. The Refkul easily destroys each building with a single stomp. Djov falls to his knees, his hands covering his face, he starts sobbing. "I'm sorry, Ferx, I'm sorry, Yetroy. I knew how to stabilize the kord... I chose not to... I'm worthless!..."
"Good work, men! This fine blade will work great when I get my hands on those wretched creatures." Yetroy says to Ferx and Djov after they successfully made their first sword. It took them weeks of training, but they finally finished it.
"Now men, I'm going into this kord today. I know I'm going to return safe, because I'm not going that far. Although, for those times when I do, I'll need Djov's help to stabilize the kord. You still remember, don't you Djov?" Yetroy asks Djov. "Yes sir, I will never forget!" Djov reassures Yetroy. "But Yetroy, if you go into that kord, no one knows if you'll be able to get back out." Warns Ferx. "Who knows what you'll find! you might get hurt!" Warns Djov.
CHAPTER 7
Ferx pauses for a moment, stunned to know the humanoid creature before him can speak English. Ferx watches the creature slowly glide away from him. This creature has the head of an incredibly pale human, only without lips, a nose, or any ears. It's body is covered by shredded black robes, as if the robes have been burnt. The creature has no feet, only the power to glide itself.
"Ferx. Come." The creature repeats in a louder tone. Ferx slowly steps toward the creature. They both make their way to the giant snake mouth at the end of the mirror sky. Ferx notices the snake, and immediately stops. The creature stops as well, and hastily turns around. It comes close to Ferx and whispers in his ear in a comforting yet creepy way, "Come now, this isn't even the chamber. There's nothing to be worried about..." The creature turns around again and waits for Ferx to be ready to continue. Ferx stands up tall and runs to the snake mouth. He doesn't stop until he's entirely inside, then the mouth closes.
"There... that wasn't hard... at all... was it?" The creature comforts Ferx from outside the mouth. "Let go of your past, Ferx... this will be your new life... this is perfection..."
Ferx cannot see a thing inside the mouth, it is pitch black. He continues to run through the mouth, and he soon finds himself face to face with a door. A single torch burns above the door, providing enough light for Ferx to open the door. "I don't care where I am, I just need to find Yetroy!" Ferx screams, trying to overcome his fears as he runs through the opened door, both of his eyes closes. He steps on something slimy and squishy. He opens his eyes to see a toad, lieing on the floor in front of him. The toad is no larger than Ferx's feet. Ferx gets closer to it, and hears something coming from the toad. It sounds like the sound of a crowd talking, while underwater. Ferx attempts to grab the toad, but it jumps away. Ferx runs after it, desperately leaping at it. The toad leaps onto a tree, far above Ferx.
Ferx looks up at the tree, and notices this is not an ordinary tree. The tree looks like a palm tree from a beach, only it's trunk is in a zig-zag pattern. The palm tree's leaves look normal, only they're yellow, not green. The pines on the tree are thick yellow needles, spread out across the leaves.
Ferx sees a bird-looking creature in the yellow leaves of the tree. The bird's beak is incredibly large, showing every color of the rainbow, like an enlarged Toucan's beak. It's feathers are orange and green. It has 7 eyes, each one having a different color of the rainbow. The top of it's head has a blue pointy spike. It has a pink tail of a rat, sticking out the back of it's wings. The bird opens it's beak, and the most annoying sounds Ferx has ever heard comes squealing out of it's throat. "Beautiful, isn't it?" The humanoid creature whispers to Ferx. Ferx jumps and turns around, surprised to see it. "We're almost there..."
Djov runs away from the giant Refkul destroying everything as it inches closer and closer to him. Yetroy's house lays in ruins, yet down in the basement, the kord continues to rumble. Huxoles, Hadmun, and Sorcs of all shapes and sizes come rushing out. "Take me! I don't want to live! I will not live knowing I've let my only companions down!" Djov hollers at the giant insane monsters spawning at Yetroy's house. The creatures rush to Djov, and keep going. They do not notice him and run off further off into the distance. "No! I must..." Djov starts to scream, until he sees the computer desks in Yetroy's opened basement still intact. "I can stop this..." He says to himself.
He sprints back to the crushed house, past all the demented monsters running past him, past all the bodies of innocents who have died to the creatures. He leaps into a hole to the basement with great speed and dives into the purple liquid now filling up the basement. "What the heck is this?" Djov yells, surprised by the liquid. Djov breathes in lots of air and dives down. He finds the computer floating in the purple liquid, still on. Djov searches for the keyboard left and right, but cannot find it. He begins to run out of breath, and can't find any air pockets. He becomes frantic, until he finally finds the keyboard under one of the chairs floating around. He plugs the keyboard into the computer and types in a command. While doing so, he tries his best to not breathe in, but it was too late.
He breathes in the purple liquid, and seems fine. He breathes in some more, and realizes it's okay to breathe in. He becomes calmer, and continues to type in the command. He finishes the command and presses "Enter" in the keyboard. Nothing happens for a few moments. Then, slowly, the purple liquid and the creatures stop spawning at the kord. The kord stops shaking. Djov finally relaxes. Everything goes silent. Djov slowly floats to the ground. He hits the ground, with his back and arms fully stretched out. He lays there in peace for a few minutes.
He hears a strange sound coming from the kord, almost like the sound of fast running water going down metal pipes, only in reverse. He opens his eyes, and sees the kord start to wobble again. He starts to float towards the kord from the force of the current. Djov realizes the liquid's being sucked back into the kord, and gets up. He sets his body in a swimming position and starts to swim in the opposite direction of the current. The current gets stronger, and he begins to inch closer to the kord in spite of his efforts to swim away. He swims and pushes with all his might, but the current is too strong. Djov gives up, and enters the kord.
Yetroy awakes once again. He opens his eyes and slowly gets up. At first, he can't see a thing. After a while, his eyes adjust to the dim lighting, and he sees a man's face staring at him. "Gahh!" Yetroy shrieks at the look of the face. "Oh, so you're awake. I've been making sure you haven't died. You really should thank me." The man says as he gets up and walks over to another side of the room. "Who... who are you? Where am... I?" Yetroy meekly asks. He attempts to get up, but his legs and arms feel too tired to move. Yetroy looks over to where the man was standing. The man walks over to Yetroy and sets a warm cup of cocoa on his lap.
"Here... you look tired. You need this." The man offers him sympathetically. The man pours the cup into Yetroy's mouth. He drinks the cocoa. The man then sets it back onto his lap and finally answers, "I am Hercrum." The second Yetroy hears his name, he spits the cocoa out in surprise and attempts to crawl away. His muscles are still too weak, so he falls to the ground. "Who are you?" Hercrum asks Yetroy. "Oh, umm, I'm... Ferx." Yetroy lies nervously to Hercrum. "Wow, you have changed so much since I first hired you! I've heard some great things about you and Yetroy." Hercrum explains. "Now, I'm going to keep you here and take care of you until you feel like you can walk. In return, I want you to make one promise to me." "Yes?" Yetroy asks. "I want you to tell that son of a gun Yetroy, that if he ever attempts to sabotage my plans again, I'm going to hunt down his kord, enter it, and obliterate everything he's ever worked for. I've got to be the first to the heart of The Nourikonm. He is not trained to do it! Only I am capable." Hercrum rants in fury. "Ye-yes sir. I'll do it." Yetroy stutters. "Ferx, lets get you off that floor. It must be so uncomfortable to not be able to use your limbs. I wonder what could have happened to you..." Hercrum questions Yetroy as he picks him off the floor and onto one of his couches. "I went into this place, where there was a giant star. There were thousand of heads like mine behind me, and the star kept coming closer and closer until it burned my head off!" Yetroy explained very dramatically. "Hmm, I don't recall seeing a place like that before in The Nourikonm... must be something new..." Hercrum wonders to himself.
"Well, I'm going to get us some food. I don't want you dieing. Niether do I want you working for Yetroy, but you can't have everything you want in life." Hercrum complains. "Guess not..." Yetroy nervously agrees.
Djov swims far and wide, yet he cannot find Yetroy's structure.
After an hour of finding nothing, Djov finally tries looking up. As he looks, he sees the structure floating at the top of the liquid. He swims up and opens the structure's hatch. He enters and pulls the lever he's seen Yetroy pull to lower the liquid. The purpleness slowly drains and Djov sticks to the floor from the force of gravity.
"I don't remember it being this heavy!..." Djov exclaims. He crawls like an army man hiding in some tall grass to the ladder, and pulls himself up. He heavily and slowly goes up the ladder and onto the second floor. "What happened to this place?" He asks. The last time Djov was in Yetroy's structure, he was escaping from the mad man who hired him and Ferx with Yetroy. Djov rests on the ground for a few minutes.
Djov quickly gets up and goes to the top of the structure. Up there, he finds the structure stopped near a green forest. "The heck is that doing here?" Djov exclaims. After a few more minutes of resting, he gets off the structure and swims to the forest. He makes it and pulls himself up onto the green grass. He rests there for a few more minutes, then gets up and looks around.
There are trees and grasses in every direction. He turns around, and the purple ocean is gone. He's surrounded by the forest in every direction. "What's happening to me!?" Djov screams in fear. He crawls forward for a few seconds, then collapses from the gravity again. "What can I do?"
CHAPTER 8
"Look at my work... Ferx..." The creature offers him. Ferx turns around once again, and looks around the room. Everything in the room is pitch black, with a few specs of light floating around, as if in space. In the space, along with the specs of light, strange creatures float around with them. These creatures are frozen in time, stuck in random poses forever. They are so complex and indescribable, they give Ferx the feeling of fear, insanity, hatred, yet they seem, lovable. Ferx looks up. The ceiling is golden yellow with thousands of orange and white slow moving alien-like symbols he has never seen before. Ferx looks at the ground. The ground is black like the space around him, with long white and gray strips of color moving up, down, left, and right at incredibly fast speeds. He looks in front of him, and sees the black and striped ground fade off into the distance. Ferx takes time to look at all the space, until the creature behind him whispers in his ear, "Go, enter the chamber."
Ferx walks away from the door he entered through, and towards the nothingness beyond. He keeps walking. He keeps walking until he cannot see the door behind him anymore. He can only see a faint glint of the yellow palm tree.
Ferx begins to jog. He jogs so far, he can no longer tell which direction is to the door, and which will lead him further.
He looks to his right, and sees a horrific sight. He sees a little girl, whose mouth had been replaced with an eyeball, and her eye sockets were filled with millions of spider legs. Her nose was a blackened tongue hanging in between her spider filled eye sockets. He screams at the top of his lungs and sprints away, hopefully in the right direction. "Don't you like her? I made her myself, just like everything else." Ferx hears someone say, expecting to see the creature somewhere.
The black space turns white, and the specs of light turn to blackness. The floating creatures begin to move.
Ferx continues to sprint, until he sees something in the distance. He sees a giant bright yellow platform, filled with many palm trees, all of many shapes, sizes, colors, angles, and types of pines. In every tree, he can see many weird creatures never seen before. One small creature has a skinny red body, with many green spheres as limbs, each sphere connected by an orange liquid in a clear tubing. It's head has a giant gorilla mouth going vertically across the entire head. It's eyes are located at the sides of the head. It's eyes are completely black, with purple circles on the outer parts of the eyeball. The top of it's head has two yellow antennae, going eight centimeters above it's head. Another creature has a spherical green body, with a yellow neck with orange, red, purple, and white strips going around the neck. The neck is the size of a giraffe's, and it has no head, only a giant eyeball with a normal sized pupil in it. The iris has every color of the rainbow, and covers everything besides the pupil in the eyeball. It has no limbs, but it has ten wings, five on each side. All the wings have feathers, except the bottom two. The top two wings are purple with skinny yellow lines going horizontally across the wings. The middle three have green wings with skinny yellow lines, also going horizontally across. The bottom wings have no feathers, but are made of a translucent material that have a faint picture of a boy starring off into the starry night sky from a large balcony of a mansion. All the other creatures all have their own unique characteristics and abilities, but there are thousands too many to describe them all.
Ferx runs to the yellow platform and comes to a halt when he arrives. He looks at all the trees and creatures around him. "Welcome, Ferx... Welcome to the chamber..." Ferx hears the creature welcome him. Ferx may be welcomed here, but he feels too scared to care. He only wanted to rescue Yetroy.
"There is two..." Djov hears from far away. Djov, still lieing on the ground, turns over and sees a creature with no facial features, wearing a ripped black robe, as if it's been burned, and with no legs, only levitating. "No, no no no, get away!" Djov screams at the creature slowly making it's way past all the trees and grasses. Djov tries to crawl away, but the creature's speed is greater than his.
When the creature catches up to Djov, he speaks in a calm yet creepy way, "I found the first... are you the second?" "I don't know what the heck you're talk about. How do you know my name? What are you?" Djov starts asking many questions, but the creature hushes him. "You are not Kuzsed, you must come... I have first. Djov, second, must follow..." The creature chants.
"What? What do you mean? Wha-" Djov begins, but before he finishes, the creature's robes rose, revealing that he has no body. His head is attached to nothing but the robes. Suddenly, Djov gets sent flying up into the air by a strong invisible force. "Oh my gosh!" Djov screams as he flies faster and faster towards the mirror sky. At the last second, he stops and gently falls onto the mirror sky. Djov looks down, and sees his face, sweaty and scared.
"Get up. Follow." The creature orders. Djov struggles to get himself up. He slowly makes it, and walks nervously and shaky towards the creature. "My leader calls me Protem... I make Nourikonm safe for Kuzsed..." The creature tells Djov. Djov, struggling to keep up with the Protem, asks, "What is Kuzsed? Are you going to get me out of here?" "Kuzsed is... all the... life... made here," The Protem explains slowly, trying to put the correct words together. "it is... what we... call the life here... the second question, no. I cannot let you out unless... you are acted... on an... unnatural force. The first likes to call them... kords. Kords are... unnatural... holes. Unnatural... life sometimes... enters without permission. You are... one of the unnaturals. You are second." The Protem hesitantly explains. The Protem and Djov walk closer towards the snake mouth in the distance. Djov notices it, and stops walking. "Like I told first... this isn't even the chamber... there's nothing to be worried about..."
Yetroy awakes from his first night at Hercrum's house. Hercrum, before Yetroy went to sleep, told him about how he rescued him before he died in a gray dome, surrounded by green-yellow tentacles that almost ripped him in two. Hercrum said the dome was like a perfect half sphere of a mountain, with a small entrance at the bottom. He entered it and saw Yetroy, fainted with four or five Refkuls surrounding him. Hercrum used his sword and said he "easily" killed them all, but Yetroy highly doubted that. He then carried Yetroy back to his kord and woke him up. Yetroy remembered the story, and wondered how he got in that dome thing in the first place.
Yetroy then fell off his bed, and painfully crawled around the house. He walked into the kitchen, and saw a normal stove, pots, pans, a sink, a dish washer, and many other normal kitchen supplies. He walked out the kitchen into the living room. There, he saw a window. He saw the real world, Earth. He ran to the window and admired the wonderfulness of the real world. Nothing strange, nothing disturbing, nothing abnormal. Everything was perfect.
"Up already? I was going to order some breakfast before you woke up!" Hercrum remarks. Yetroy jumps and turns around frantically. "It's just me, Ferx! You aren't in The Nourikonm anymore. No need to panic." Hercrum comforts Yetroy. Yetroy still isn't used to Hercrum being nice to him, after their past together. Hercrum leaves the room and calls a fast food restaurant on a phone for breakfast. Yetroy stares outside, admiring the wonderfulness of Earth again.
As Yetroy and Hercrum eat breakfast, Hercrum asks, "So, did you sleep well?" Yetroy then remembers his disturbing dreams he had last night, and replies, "Well, yeah. I guess so, but I had some weird dreams. I was dreaming I was being carried by these Hadmun, and they tossed me down some hole. I felt like I was spazzing out when I landed down there, as if I were in deep pain. Then, after some time, these Rekuls carried me by the neck and were saying something about... a disturbance... a disturbance in, something. I don't remember. I forget the rest, but it was pretty traumatic for me in the dream." "Huh, interesting." Is all Hercrum said back.
After breakfast, Hercrum carried Yetroy over to the living room and turned on the TV. He let Yetroy sit and watch for an hour or so before Yetroy heard him shriek in another room.
Yetroy turned off the TV and crawled towards the screaming. He goes down to the kitchen and sees a trapdoor is open in the ground. He goes down it and hears the shriek again. He goes down the stairs into a room half full of purple liquid, and Hercrum fighting a Huxole with his sword. "Ferx, stay back! Don't get yourself hurt!" Hercrum hollers at Yetroy. Yetroy then remembers his sword, Fegroid. He wonders what happened to it. He then sees Hercrum slice the head off the Huxole, and yellow and red guts spray everywhere. "Wow, these creatures are learning where our kords are. We got to keep them more secure I guess." Hercrum suggests to himself. He then types in a command into the computer built into the wall next to the kord and stabilizes it. "You know, now that I think about it, I think that dream you had may have actually happened. If those Refkuls carried you to that cave I was telling you about yesterday, then I don't think that was a dream." Hercrum theorizes. "Oh, alright. I guess that makes sense." Yetroy half agrees.
Hercrum carries Yetroy back up the stairs and into the living room again. "Sorry about the yelling, I didn't expect anything from beyond coming through." Hercrum apologizes. "I understand..." Yetroy replies back.
